"Calico"

Directing this musical was one of the most fabulous experiences of my life. My major in college was Visual and Performing Arts, and my goal is to teach and direct High School Drama & Theater. I had just finished up my studies when I was asked to direct this "Wild West Musical". The show takes place in the 1880’s at the end of the cattle drives. The music is all original and written especially for this play by David John.  David John & the Comstock Cowboys arranged the songs and perform all the music right on stage, and the band also interacts in most of the scenes. The cast of characters are a wonderful group of friends known as the "Guns & Gals of Old Virginia City". They dress up like this every weekend to perform reenactments of shoot-outs, hangings, and the like.

We started rehearsals in May and opened the show July 24th 1998. "Calico" was on tour around Nevada and California until 2002.
